ABH vs Murdoch in Birmingham City Centre… Be there for a killer show

Saturday the 17th of November will be the 42nd anniversary of the Sun’s Page Three. It began in 1970 as a ploy to revive a flagging paper, and it worked. Today we ponder why victims of sexual harassment and abuse are not taken seriously and all the while this sky-scraper of misogyny boasts about 42 years as “a British institution”.

On Saturday 17th November the ABH will play a gig in Birmingham city centre as part of the No More Page Three campaign. This will happen on New Street, outside the Bullring.

11:30 am – We will meet by the Bull and then get into some rather dark performance art as demonstrated by Tim here on our left. Black tape is provided. We have some (fake) Sun papers printed off too, although if you can grab one from a cafe that should know better, that might help us. Alternatively you can just be there and watch or what-have-you

12:30 pm – The Army of the Broken Hearted will be playing some junk power ballads in honour of Rupert Murdoch. Come and join the band or collect signatures form passers by…

Or, you can just come for a killer gig in public space. Maybe get us a cup of tea? Why play the Flapper or Scruffy Murphy’s when Birmingham City Centre is just waiting to be shaken with some apocalyptic junk music?

See you there…

  1. Reblogged this on Lizzy Piffany and commented:
Army of the Broken Hearted have thrown their support behind the “No More Page 3” campaign, and I’ve been following it with my camera. To coincide with this anniversary we’ll be releasing a music video, watch this space…
